MAME maniacs could very well lose their minds. If you aren’t familiar with arcade game emulations then the game Night Slashers probably doesn’t mean a lot to you, but for those of us a toe or ten in the arcade pond the name Night Slashers is a one that likely to birth a smile or two.

The game is a horror themed scrolling beat ‘em’ up from 1994. It did okay but Night Slashers was never the most popular arcade game during its day, Night Slashers was generally underappreciated; though things have since changed thanks to the accessibility that arcade emulation has granted the title.

Now Forever Entertainment is bringing Night Slashers back from the dead in a new release called Night Slashers: Remake.

The Remake has a graphics overhaul (let’s hope there’s an option for the old graphics, the smooth new look isn’t my cup of tea) and is going to offer 4 player multiplayer—that’s interesting because Night Slasher originally only had 3 characters, so maybe we’ll be seeing some new editions to the character roster.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’ probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it.

Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing through the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection, and all the other mainline Final Fantasy games up 12 on the Switch.
