It keeps getting more and more easy to play classic games. What was once something that seemed to be the domain of shoddy emulation on cheap third-party licenced machines or the digital only services of GOG, now companies realise that – like books and films – people like the idea of revisiting their favourite old games — even more so if value is added to what was already a good game. Capcom, Square Enix, SNK and more have released various collections and remasters over the last few years, and that’s not to mention the mini-machine mania that Nintendo kicked off with the NES classic. Best of all is that many of these re-releases are coming out physically on disc and cartridge, so now you can stop dusting off that super Nintendo cartridge of Playstation CD and pop in the modern day equivalent on current consoles.

Konami are among the more prominent publishers pushing for profits in their back catalogue, and that’s what’s brings us this story; Konami is bringing back Suikoden I and II.

The first two games in the series are considered classics of the genre and endure in popularity today. Turn-based combat, a massive roster of characters to recruit and gripping story writing are all present in both titles.

Konami has only given a release window of ‘2023’, but the promised the Suikoden I & II HD remaster will have improvements to graphics and sound, and will release on the Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
