The American justice system has spoken. The FTC wanted to block the acquisition of Activision by Microsoft, but the courts have said the deal can go ahead. With that decision in Microsoft’s pocket, it looks like the CMA (the UK’s consumer and markets authority) has already begun the capitulation on their previous decision to block the move. The two (Microsoft and the CMA) were due to go to court to challenge the CMA’s decision, but now the pair have decided to stay litigation and negotiate to see if they came meet in the middle.

It seems very likely at this point that the CMA will attempt to coax some concessions from Microsoft – probably in the form of guarantees – so as to save some face after what is almost sure to be a turn about from the U.K. body.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’ probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it.

Something I’m doing at the moment? Being impress by Project Firestart.
