It was recently posted to Nintendo’s corporate Japanese website that Nintendo has confirmed the existence of fraudulent websites, pretending to be Nintendo, possible to foll site visitors into providing personal information while processing fake purchases. The websites apparently list Nintendo products at large discounts.

It’s not clear how prevalent these sites are, or if this is an issue outside of Japanese language sites, but it wouldn’t hurt to exercise more intense vigilance in the immediate future, particularly if you are a frequent internet purchaser.
