Perhaps the most obvious of issues that video game collectors have with digital-only content is again on display, as Nintendo announces that they are planning to close down the digital stores for both the Wii U and 3DS.

The same news coming from Sony of closure for the PSP, PS Vita and PS3 stores caused something of an outcry from some on the internet last year, enough to cause Sony to delay the closures in the case of the PS3 and Vita; though the same is much less likely where Nintendo is concerned.

The news comes from Nintendo’s official twitter account that the closure is to happen in ‘late March 2023’, meaning that hundreds of digital-only titles will cease to be accessible to anyone looking to purchase them after closure.

So if you’re interested in anything on the Wii U or 3DS stores now might be a good time to start thinking about buying them.
