If there’s one thing we like at Stage-Select it’s classic games, and some of the best of those classic games are Japanese role-playing-games. Series in the JRPG genre have either been transmogrified into the unrecognisable (Final Fantasy) or have disappeared completely (Breath of Fire, Suikoden, Lufia and so on). The good news is that we might be seeing something like a couple of well-missed JRPG series on the horizon.

You might not recognised Armed Fantasia or Penny Blood but you might know Wild Arms and Shadow Hearts. The creators of both aforementioned series have gotten together on the fundraising website Kickstarter to make Armed Fantasia and Penny Blood; spiritual successors to the Wild Arms and Shadow Hearts games respectively.

Penny Blood
Armed Fantasia: To The End of the Wilderness

The fundraising campaign is promising to release the games on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. When it comes to Nintendo things are a little bit murky, with a promise that if the Nintendo console available at the time is capable of handling a port of the two titles than they will also appear on the switch.

$750,000 is the target amount for the fundraising and you can see the Armed Fantasia and Penny Blood websites here and here.
