More Sega-Microsoft Partnership Details

Recently it was made public that Sega was to enter into a working-relationship with Microsoft to develop games ‘built on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform’.

This follows on from Sega’s ‘Super Game Initiative’, which is a strategy from Sega to produce games with a global appeal and operate with some online component.

Now Sega has clarified that this work with Microsoft’s cloud platform is not to be taken as a sign of exclusive games to PC and Xbox, and that ‘the goal is to optimise development processes and continue to bring high-quality experiences to players using Azure cloud technologies.’

It makes sense for Sega to want to stay away from exclusivity if they want to reach as many gamers as possible, and for Microsoft’s part, they seem very comfortable working with Sega in such a capacity.

There is an interesting write-up of the story with more quotes over at VGC if you would like to read it here.
