Bioware Closes
Goodbye Bioware
It’s been a long time, 31 years in fact, an in that time Bioware managed to produced some great games, ones that have stuck with fans as part of nostalgic permanence, but now Bioware is gone.
The news will be hard for the people at Bioware who will lose their jobs and fans who were hoping to see a return to past glories. Unfortunately this isn’t surprising news. Bioware had released a string of disappointing games in the last few years; the poorly tied up Mass Effect 3; Mass Effect Andromeda; Dragon Age Veilguard and it’s chokingly obnoxious, liberal-centric political statements written into a world where there was no place to write them into, Bioware hadn’t been living up to their own standards for a while, and the bosses at EA weren’t handing out budgets to make games that weren’t making enough money.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing dome of the survival horror games in my GOG and Steam libraries.
