World Of Demons Disappearing (For Now)

Platinum Games’ action slasher World of Demons is leaving Apple arcade. Worse still, that means the artistic actioner will disappear completely, unless Platinum decides to port the game to other platforms. For some reason Platinum will no longer be supporting the game, and since it is only available through the Apple arcade subscription service, so if it isn’t on Apple it isn’t on anything—even if you’ve downloaded the game on your Apple arcade account.

By all accounts (I haven’t played it myself) World of Demons is a solid hack ‘n’ slash with an impressive art style, which is not very surprising given that the game is developed by Platinum. This is again – if it need to be restated – the problem with digital only games; that might be games that no one would mind seeing dissolve into the ether, but there are plenty more that people would miss, and the more that developers and publishers shift to this digital only model, the more we’ll see of things just like this.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Collecting Legendary Pokemon that I missed in Arceus and Sword the first time around.
