Neo Geo plus

A year is a long time

The post on X says it all. Due to strains on manufacturing caused by difficulties getting components, Plaion has made the decision to delay the release of their recreated NEOGEO AES console until September of 2027. This is a long delay, pushing the console into 2027 when it was originally supposed to release this year.

If you’re unaware, Plaion has designed the NEOGEO AES+, which is supposed to be a brand new, redesigned Neo Geo AES, but in 2027. Effectively, Plaion is promising a real, working NEOGEO AES, like the original console, simply redesigned to be manufactured with modern components. The system will also see a number of old NEOGEO games also getting re-released, and since this is supposed to be a proper NEOGEO, everything, all games, new and old will work on the NEOGEO AES+ and your old NEOGEO, if you’re lucky enough to have one.

Ed-itor-in-chief

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing dome of the survival horror games in my GOG and Steam libraries.
