No one saw it coming, no one predicted it and yet even if they had no one would have believed it possible. Still, today Microsoft announced they had acquired Zenimax, the parent company of Bethesda.

Costing just shy of $7.5 billion, the move which shocked the industry will now see Alpha Dog, Arkane, Bethesda, id Software, MachineGames, Roundhouse Studios, Tango Gameworks, and Zenimax Online Studios all fall under the control of Microsoft along with some very big name IPs including DOOM, The Elder Scrolls, The Evil Within, Fallout, and Starfield.

Immediately, of course, nothing will change, the deal between Microsoft and Bethesda won’t be finalized until next year so games like Desthloop and Ghostwire are still coming to the PS5,
the same however can’t be said for Bethesda’s future releases, The Elder Scrolls series, for instance, looks like it could very well be going console exclusive on the Xbox , a huge boost to Game Pass, a huge boost to Microsoft and needles to say, a huge boost to the XBox brand.
