Would you like some game with that?

If you’re looking at the ‘collector’s box’ for God of War Laufey and thinking ‘that would go great with the game, be aware that it doesn’t actually come with the game. That’s right, Sony is releasing a collector’s piece for the God of War spin-off game, but it doesn’t include the game.

I’m not sure what is in the mind of some people when news like this is released. I’m not the biggest ‘special edition’ fan in the first place, but I can see why someone could want a few extra goodies to go with a game that they’re a massive fan of, but it’s a real mystery that Sony could look at a videogame, say ‘we think this needs a special collection’, and then release one without the game. What do you get for £130? A statue, a deck of cards and a mini art book. Spend another £60-£70 on top and you can get the game too.

I don’t know, I suppose this sort of thing shows that I’m out of touch with popular opinion, maybe.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing dome of the survival horror games in my GOG and Steam libraries.
