FF Resonance Demo
That really resonates with me
Final Fantasy Resonance is probably the game I’ve most anticipated this year (even more so than the physical copy of Chained Echoes I have on pre-order, a game that I’ve heard praised beyond what I believe it can live up to), and the best news from that recent Playstation State of Play event was that Resonance has a demo.
Like other Square Enix demos in recent years this one will give you a decent go at the game (clocking in at several hours of playtime), and also like recent demos it will let you carry over your save data if you choose to buy the full game on the 22nd of October, 2026, when it releases.
This habit that Square has of release this nutritious demos is one thing that the company is getting right at the minute; one thing that it certainly isn’t is it’s approach to physical games, with the final release of the third in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy being not really physical, even on the PS5, and Resonance being a game-keycard on the Switch 2. At least the Switch 1 version on Resonance will be all on the cartridge, that’s the version I’d recommend Nintendo fans pick up if they have reservations about where a lot of videogame publishers want the industry to go.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing dome of the survival horror games in my GOG and Steam libraries.
