Could We See A Legacy Of Kain Return After Square Sells Eidos

Square Enix has decided to part company with the largest of their overseas subsidies, specifically; Eidos Montreal, Square Enix Montreal and Crystal Dynamics. The studios were part of the Eidos acquisition back in 2009 when the Japanese publisher was looking to move into the ‘Western’ games market. Now, thirteen years later and Square Enix has sold the studios to Embracer Group for $300 million, the giant holding company with subsidiaries that include THQ Nordic and Koch Media.

The sale will see Embracer Group gain numerous franchises such as Deus Ex and Tomb Raider, But the one that is most interesting for Stage-Select is the excellent Legacy of Kain and Soul Reaver franchises. The games in this action adventure series have long since gone dormant, and as a result we’ve been left without the dramatic interplay between Raziel and Kain, the wraith and vampire, as they grapple with elder gods and each other in have gothic backdrops. Now that Embracer Group owns the franchise we could see it get the same treatment that other games from THQ Nordic; a remaster or re-release on modern consoles. Games that have seen such include Legend of Kai, De Blob, Red Faction Guerilla, Numerous Darksiders games and Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom.

We can only hope to see the same for Kain and Raziel.
