Even at a levelling-off or ‘stabilising’, the games industry across the United Kingdom is worth a whopping £7 billion. This comes from the Ukie (the trade body/association for the UK games industry) and their latest report on the status of commerce in the UK for videogames entertainment.

The gist of the report is that things are looking rosy (from a financial perspective) in the UK market, and although the overall amount spent by customers in 2022 was down on from 2021, numbers were still on track for improvement over ‘pre-pandemic levels’.

One interesting bit of information in the report is the increase in spend on ‘game culture’, which includes things like movies and toys that are related to video games. Seeing an increase of 27% over 2021, this is more proof – if it were needed – that the popularity of videogames continues to spread out in the wider pop-culture sphere.
