It was just about two decades that Gamecube fans were introduced to Kalas; the single-winged protagonist of Baten Kaitos. The rough but ultimately likeable hero took us on an adventure with friends like Xelha across floating islands in the sky, while taking on turn-based battles with a novel card system.

Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean was followed up with a sequel; origins (which we never got in PAL territories), and although neither game was particularly heavy sellers, the series enjoyed critical acclaim and a strong hardcore fanbase.

Now here we are in 2023, and Baten Kaitos is making comeback. As we learned from the latest Nintendo Direct, both Baton Kaitos games are coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster will see both titles see improvements to their visuals (as you could guess) as some additional mechanics like those from the Final Fantasy VII and VIII re-releases on the Switch.

The HD Remaster is expected to release sometime in 2023.
