Playmaji has posted on X that they recently removed pack-in games from publisher Piko Interactive have been removed from the Polymega as their licencing agreement with Piko has ended.

The response came to a question from Rich Heywood of Bacon Ice Cream Productions (Youtube streamer), who was curious as to where the Piko games he had paid for disappeared to after the latest update. The news that the removal of these games was intentional but Playmaji didn’t bother to let fans know is a poor showing from Playmaji; and this comes after all the other poor showings on Playmaji’s books.

Now I won’t overplay this; the games removed from the Polymega are – for the most part – not very good, and most people didn’t buy the Polymega for those titles. However, the Polymega was sold to people with these games included and – as far as I can tell – Playmaji didn’t mention in their terms of service that these games were only to be made available for a limited time. Worse still, even if Playmaji has made it clear to everyone, in every interaction that these games were part of a time-limited licence and that they could be removed from console, many people are still waiting for their Polymega consoles and so haven’t even been given the opportunity to play the games that was part of the package they paid for.

We’ll need to wait and see what Polymega does about this, if anything.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Collecting Legendary Pokemon that I missed in Arceus and Sword the first time around.
