There was a recent news from Blaze that a legacy cart for Evercvade (carts that are no longer in production) would be making a return. It looks like we now know what this returning cart will be, thanks to an early listing on Amazon. And, if I could take a moment, it really is astounding that these Amazon leaks are still happening.

The returning cart will be the Piko Interactive Collection 1 cart. It’s a wonderful development that carts can come back, giving people that haven’t been on the Evercade train as long as some of us the chance to pick up some collections that they might have missed; and Piko 1 is a great collection (one of my favourites in fact), but it’s not all good news. The original Piko 1 collection came with a terrific twenty titles to play, but this re-issue comes with nineteen. The missing games is Magic Girl, and while not the best game on the cart (far from it), but it is a playable scrolling shooter that added some more variety to the collection. Seeing less games on the collection is disappointing, but it’s the nature of the licencing dealing that Blaze carries out. What’s worse is Piko 1 cost about £15 when I picked it up originally, now it’s £24 and one game short, and that’s the way of things, unfortunately.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Returning to Turok with the collection on Switch.
