It looks like Sega really is looking to leverage their forgotten games back into the psyche of fans, both young and old. First it was Streets of Rage’s Axel Stone, now it’s Altered Beast that getting the toy transformation treatment, courtesy of Jakks Pacific.

The old scrolling beat ‘em’ up that hit Arcades before jumping to the Sega Mega Drive (where most of us will remember it from) saw players power-up their main character to a different anthropomorphic beast in each level; the first of those being the werewolf—that’s what we’ll be seeing come to Walmart in the not too distant future.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing through Star Ocean: First Departure R.
