In what can only be described as a shock departure, Jim Ryan, President and CEO of SEI is to retire. The news comes after the announcement of a security breach of Sony’s computer systems and the whisker-away finalisation of the Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard.

Whether those two big stories have anything to do with Mr. Ryan’s departure we’ll probably never know, but an official statement of the outgoing boss was that strain of working what is no doubt an extremely stressful jobs while living in Europe and working in America.

Who will eventually replace Mr. Ryan has not yet been disclosed, but he will stay in post until next year, being assisted by Mr. Hiroki Totoki.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’ probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it.

Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing through the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection, and all the other mainline Final Fantasy games up 12 on the Switch.
