FREE GAME ALERT SP Football Life 2024

We here at StageSelect love a virtual kick about every now and again.
That said, having about as much choice in regards to footy games as Shamrock Rovers have transfer fee can be a bit of a downer but there is an alternative to both EA FC and whatever Konami are calling PES these days and that alternative come in the form of SP Football Life 2024.

SP Football Life is a fan project aiming to keep the career modes of Pro Evolution Soccer alive. Gone are the loot boxes and always online requirement of modem sports games and in their place is a classic football game much like the PS2 era of Pro Evolution Soccer where the COM is your main rival and building up a master league team to beat all the rest is your aim.

Truly SP Football Life is a glorious throwback to classic football games and better yet, it’s a free download which you can get right here.

SP Football Life 2024

Windows Installation.

• Installing SP Football Life to a Window’s powered device is straight forward simply.
• Download SP Football Life 2024 from the link from here
• Create an empty folder called SP Football Life 2024 any where you like on your device. (Most people will create this folder on their C Drive which can be found by opening any folder on you Windows system and clicking on the “This PC” icon listed in the menu to the right. Then click into your C Drive)
• Extract all the installer files with 7zip and once extracted double click the file named SPFL24_setup.exe
• In the pop up window select the folder your created named SP Football Life 2024 and wait for the game to install.
• Once installed start Football Life by either double click the file named FL_2024 start.exe in the SP Football Life 2024 folder or the shortcut on your desktop.

Steam Deck- Linux Installation.

• Steam Deck/Linux installation is a bit trickier then Windows and will require that you have Lutris already installed on your Steam Deck or Linux device. Lutris is available on the app store provide with your preferred distribution
• Follow steps 1 and 2 from the “Tutorial – Install SP Football Life” to download and extract the game files from the SmokePatch website. Only complete these first two steps and return here after extracting the installer files.
• Download SP Football Life 2024 from this link and extract the downloads contents.
• Launch Lutris and click the “+” symbol to add a new game.
• Choose “Install from local install script” and navigate to the YAML script extracted in step 1. Click “Install.”
• On the subsequent screen, select the installation directory for the game. On the Steam Deck, Lutris typically installs games to “/home/deck/Games/sp-football-life-2024.” Also, ensure to check “Create steam shortcut” to add the game to your Steam library. Click “Install.”
• Under “SPFL24_setup.exe,” click “Browse” and select the corresponding file from the files extracted in step 2. Proceed with “Continue” and wait for the necessary files to download.
• Choose your preferred resolution from the dropdown menu. For Steam Deck, the default is usually 1280×800.
• Select your desired controller style for the in-game menus. For Steam Deck, opt for “Xbox Controller.”
• Click “Continue” to initiate the installation process. If prompted to install Mono, simply click “Cancel.”
• Once the dependencies are installed, the SPFL setup window will appear. Click “Next” and maintain the default settings. The game installation will commence. Click “Exit” upon completion.
• If the Settings window appears, close it. The settings automatically configurer themselves.
• The Switcher window will launch, allowing you to customize your gameplay experience. Choose either the SmokePatch team’s tweaked gameplay and stats (top option). Click “Next” and then “Exit” once selected.
• Finally, click “Close,” and the game will now be visible in Lutris. Steam Deck users need to play launch the game in Game Mode, not Desktop.

Additional files including realistic player faces are also available here however given the large size of 80GB they are very much a luxury addition.
