Evercade fans that enjoy those classic Atari games should mark down mark down December 31st 2023 on their calenders; it’s the last day of the Evercade – Atari contract for licenced cartridges.

What does that mean? It means that from 2024 the 6 different Evercade carts that hold licenced Atari games will no longer be in production by Blaze.

What are the 6 Atari carts? Atari Collection 1/2, Atari Lynx Collection 1/2 and finally Atari Arcade Collection 1. These six carts will join Namco Collection 1/2, Piko Collection 1, Technos Collection 1 and The Oliver Twins Collection as ‘legacy cartridges’.

This might not be the last we’ve seen of Atari on the Evercade though. Blase has said:

‘We hope to bring more games from classic Atari systems in the future as well as more great licenses in 2024 and beyond. Stay tuned to this blog and to the Evercade social media channels for more news.’

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’ probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it.

Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing through the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection, and all the other mainline Final Fantasy games up 12 on the Switch.
