Dragon Quest: Beyond Dreams
Starting again
The Dragon Quest team must have been very busy. Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate was announced back in 2021, with talk that the next entry after the excellent Dragon Quest 11 would see the venerable JRPG series take a darker tone. Now things have change, seemingly everything has change. After an update on the progress of Dragon Quest 12 from Square Enix, we learned that development of the game was completely restarted. The decision was made after consultation with series creator Yuji Horii about the direction the new game was taking. It sounds like Flames of Fate was shaping up to be something that wasn’t quite Dragon Quest enough, so the decision wasw made to start again, and the stream that revealed this information also gave us a look at the all new Dragon Quest 12, complete with the new subtitle Beyond Dreams.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Taking the Multisystem 2 for a spin.
