Xbox And Higher Prices

I remember when secondhand meant half-price
Like the foetid face on a risen cadaver, pricing in the hobby of videogames continues to drag up. Everything is more expensive – that’s a fact of our lives unfortunately – and so why wouldn’t videogames be any different? I suppose the hobby wouldn’t, but there’s something sour about it all. I’m old enough to remember when secondhand meant half-price, and when consoles got cheaper as they got older. Now it seems secondhand means a £10 off £60 and consoles cost twice as much as when they released. A little (and only a little) exaggeration aside, enjoying videogames has never felt more expensive, and American Series X fans are on the front of another price increase.
An Xbox support page says that, from October Microsoft will ‘update the recommended retailer pricing for Series S and Series X consoles… due to changes in the macroeconomic environment.’
This follows on form a price increase in the U.S.A. back in May.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing though Lost Eidolons and Unicorn Overlord.
