Switch 2

There’s been plenty of conversation on the internet since Nintendo’s Switch 2 centred direct event at the beginning of April. There’s been raised voices and hammered keys over the price of the console, the price of games, and in the case of this writing, the contents of ‘Switch 2 Edition games’. With accusations that Nintendo would be effectively putting original Switch games in Switch 2 edition boxes with a download code to receive the performance enhancements that are said to come with the Switch 2’s extra power.

It now turns out that, at least in the case of Nintendo developed and published games that won’t be the case. Answering a question from website Vooks, Nintendo has confirmed that Switch 2 edition games coming from Nintendo themselves will come with the game and its upgrade enhancements on the carts.

It looks a lot like both Nintendo Switch 2 edition games and the game keys that we’ve been hearing about will fall under the same category of games on the original Switch; depending on the publisher of these games they will either be all on cart or as download codes, something that, while not a majority, was not uncommon on the Switch.
