Soul Reaver 1 and 2

It seems that an as yet unannounced remaster of two classic games into one package is on the way. Although it wasn’t planned to be revealed, it looks like a remaster for Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and its sequel are in for the remaster treatment. This news comes after a user on Resetera (called Mama Robotnik) noticed some branding on a statues of Soul Reaver protagonist and antagonist, Raziel and Kain. The statues were on display at Comic-Con, complete with signage that read ‘Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver I & II Remastered’.

It might not have had an official reveal yet, but a remaster of the two classic action-platformers would be just what you might expect; not only were rights holders Embracer Group making noise about the franchise in the not too distant past, but remastering dormant games with established fanbases is the common modus operandi of the publisher in recent years. And when you think about the fact that Embracer are looking for looks to repair their poor financial situation, a fairly uninvolved remaster, like we saw with the Tomb Raider Trilogy recently, is probably a quick and easy way for the giant corporation to generate some sales.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Returning to the black hole that is Football Manager.
