Silent Hill 2 Remake Is A PS5 Timed Exclusive (But Not Really)

The remake of Silent Hill 2 is just around the corner, coming out at 8th of October, 2024, and fans are anxious to see if Blooper Team (developers of The Medium, Observer) can do the classic survival-horror justice. One piece of news that some Xbox owners won’t be happy to hear is that Silent Hill 2 Remake is going to be bound to the PS5 and PC for one year. Some people have been running with this as to say this is a timed exclusive, which is the strange idea that if game is on PC it still counts as an exclusive for the single home console platform. The interesting thing about the news of this delay to other home consoles though is the wording: not coming to other ‘formats’ for a year. Whether this means that Silent Hill 2 Remake will release only digitally to other consoles (Gamepass for Xbox and via ‘Cloud’ gaming on whatever Nintendo is going to call the Switch successor), or if that just means platform and Konami is being a it weird with their wording.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? I started dipping my toes in the vast sea of Kemco JRPGs.
