Pokemon Pokopia

Pokopia popularity

Pokémon is no stranger to popularity. Since the first pair of games released back in 1996 (thinking about it, there was real confidence from Game Freak and Nintendo two release two games simultaneously in a brand new series) the pocket monsters have favourites for just about everyone, whether that was the game, trading cards or cartoons. And it looks like we have a new Pokémon plume in the hegemon, after Pokopia hit shelves.

The new Switch 2 exclusive Pokémon spin-off sees players take control of a Ditto masquerading as a human, going all Animal Crossing with a whole village to build for their Pokémon buddies. And the thing is Pokopia seems to have sold out at a lot of stores, with the game-card physical (I find that a little hard to swallow) seeing shortages from one store to another.

They are some strong indications that Nintendo might have another hit on their hands, and if Game Freak can coax the Pokémon and Animal Crossing fans to Pokopia then that hit status is all but certain.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Finally tackling Octopath Traveller 2.
