Playstation Price Hike

Sony has decided that the Playstation 5 is in for another price rise. The new pricing is being blamed on ‘challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates,’ according to the official Playstation blog. These ‘challenging’ economic environments are apparently only bad enough to warrant increases in the United Kingdom, the European region, Australia and New Zealand.
The new prices will only be applied to the disk drive-less version of the PS5 in the UK and European region, but will apply to both that version and the standard version of the PS5 in Australia and New Zealand. The new price in the UK will be up by £40, and is in effect as of today (14/04/24). Interestingly, the this new price means that the PS5, even without a disk drive, is now more expensive than the Switch 2 is expected to be.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing through Final Fantasy XVI.
