There’s been some negative talk around Platinum Games lately. The games studio of former Capcom and Clover Studio talent has been the subject of some rather dour speculation that the Astral Chain makers are slipping down the decline slid since the departure of Bayonetta and Devil May Cry guy, Hideki Kamiya. Mr. Kamiya was a massive part of Platinum games, having been there from the beginning. Since his departure he has created the studio Clovers, and has been looking to former staff at Platinum as potential hires. All of this smells like trouble for Platinum, and it wasn’t long until speculations started to spread about the state of the studio. Platinum Games have however been silent on the subject, and have just posted to message to X celebrating the 15th anniversary of Bayonetta. The post says Platinum has some things in store for 2025 and we should keep our eyes peeled, so let’s hope that things aren’t as bad all that, and both Platinum and now Clovers can get on to producing some quality videogames.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing through Neo Dimension Fantasian.
