Nintendo Shivers

In a rare occurrence Nintendo has opened their wallet and purchased a company—a non-japanese company at that.

Their business savvy is on full display after the Big N has gone out and got Shiver from Embracer Group, as the company continues to look for opportunities unload some of their many studios. You may not be familiar with the name, but Shiver has been a rather prolific porting studio for the Switch. Their work includes Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat 1 (is anyone else bothered by the fact that’s not MK1) and Scribblenauts Showdown.

As far as what Nintendo want from Shiver: it’s more of the same. They say that Shiver will continue doing what they’re doing now. What I’m curious about is if Nintendo has any games in mind that they want to see ported to the Switch, or maybe it’s successor?

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Returning to the black hole that is Football Manager.
