Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster
Releasing since 1997, Final Fantasy Tactics on the original Playstation has been fondly remembered by fans as a standout example of strategy RPGs. Us outside of Japan and North America weren’t so lucky (the original never released in the European region), but the game was moved to the PSP in 2007, which is how I enjoyed it. It might have been nearly two decades since but Square Enix hasn’t forgotten about Ivalice, and now they’ve reached into their back catalogue and are bringing Final Fantasy Tactics back.
Being revealed during the recent Playstation State of Play (which was better than I expected), he remaster of Tactics will be subtitled The Ivalice Chronicles, and will be releasing on the 30th of September, 2025, and will be coming to the PS4/5, Xbox Series, PC via Steam and Switch1/2.
Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Tackling the hefty Yakuza: Like A Dragon and the first Lunar game.
