Dragon Quest VII Reimagined

Handcrafted dragon
It might have been revealed in a Nintendo Direct but Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is coming to Xbox Series, PS5 and PC as well as Nintendo’s Switch 2.
The surprise reveal was part of the latest Nintendo Direct, and as the name suggests, Reimagined is a full-on remake (and the second time Square Enix has returned to DQ VII, after a first remake for the Nintendo 3DS) of the JRPG that originally released on the Playstation at the turn of the millennium. The remake has a new ‘handcrafted’ style of graphics, as well as a streamlined approached to the game itself; a change that may or may not be welcomed by fans of the original version and it’s famous and infamous length, depending on who you ask.
‘new version of the game features a new hand-crafted visual aesthetic that brings the world and its characters to life like never before! Not only that, but revamped battle mechanics and quality-of-life features make the game feel fresh and modern – whether you’re a new player or series veteran.
The story has also been significantly streamlined. Told through a series of vignettes with an overarching narrative, it’s been reworked to be pacier and more accessible to players – while still maintaining the narrative depth the game is known for.’
The battle system will also see some changes with the ability to ‘Moonlight’, a job system sor Reimagined that changes the abilities available to a character.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is releasing on the 5th of February, 2026.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Fiddling with the Lenovo Legion Go.
