Astro Bot PS5

In what was a dull and drab State of Play event from Sony one bright spot (the brightest quite frankly) to pop onto our screens was certainly Team Asobi’s next Astro Bot game.

Playstation’s actual mascot character, Astro Bot was in attendance for Sony’s latest event, and in a half-hour of grey gaming the colourful platformer was the kiss of life for an otherwise underwhelming show. The robo-hero is on the comeback trail after his well liked pack-in appearance as the game that comes free with Playstation 5 consoles to show off the DualSense controller’s capabilities. And according to the official Playstation blog, Astro Bot is returning in a big way, with over 80 levels to be played in his next, full-sized adventure. Perhaps the most important news about Astro Bot though, is that this game is coming out on the 6th of September, 2024; something for Playstation 5 fans to look forward to in a rather barren year for exclusive game releases.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Returning to the black hole that is Football Manager.
