Pokemon Pokopia

Pokémon meets Dragon Quest Builders

There was some rather strange quality over that most recent Nintendo Direct; I found myself thinking better of it the longer I looked in the mirror after the initial underwhelming wave. The Direct actually had some big announcements, like a remake of Dragho Quest VII and the reveal of the next Fire Emblem game. The most surprising game wasn’t either of those though, it was a new Pokémon title: Pokémon Pokopia.

Described as ‘Pokémon’s first life simulation game’, Pokopia looks like Dragon Quest Builders in a world populated by the world’s most popular ball-bursting monsters. The game see you control a Ditto that takes to transforming into a human shape before going about building the good life out in the wild, with a host of Pokémon pals that will happily habitat Ditto’s new domain.

Pokémon Pokopia is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 at some point in 2026.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it.
