Parasite Mutant

Parasite of the mind
One thing is absolutely clear: there are a lot of games that people want to see revisited. Scores of videogame fans look over the vivid and the vague of their memories, games fondly formed in the recesses of grey matter have fans’ nostalgia calling for something, a remake, a re-release, anything from their favourite games of the past. One longed for franchise is Parasite Eve, Square’s sci-fi horror that drew on their own RPG expertise (when they were at the peak of their powers no less) and blended them with a horror story. Heroine Aya Brea took on horrifying monsters and devilish villains over three games in the franchise that won a strong following of hardcore fans. But since that third entry into the series on the PSP Square has left Parasite Eve to float on the sea of forsaken franchises. In steps Parasite Mutant, a new game from developer Icesitruuna; and it reminds me of that over eve.
Newly announced, Parasite Mutant is sci-fi horror RPG with an ‘Active Time Chains’ combat system that take inspiration from Square’s Active Time Battle system.
Parasite Mutant is confirmed as coming to Playstation 5 and PC through Steam at some time next year.

Playing videogames, writing about videogames, considering videogames—that about sums it up. Videogames are the one hobby that I’ve kept since I was only little, zapping ducks on the NES or knocking out MR. X. And when I’m not enjoying classics from the bit generation of games or checking out those earliest of polygons, I’m probably playing something from today’s age of modern gaming: if I’m not complaining about it. Something I’m doing at the moment? Playing though Lost Eidolons and Unicorn Overlord.
