Have you ever played Doom – classic Doom that is – and thought to yourself ‘this could do with some elves, axes and a fistful of fantasy? Then you’ll probably know what Heretic and Hexen are. For the unfamiliar among us, Heretic and its sequel Hexen are two first-person-shooters from 1995. The game are must succinctly described as Doom but with a fantasy aesthetic. Heretic and Hexen have always had a fan-following, and those fans have always had a way to play the games, but anyone whose tried to play old PC games on a new computer will probably know that it isn’t always made easy by modern hardware and operating systems to play those old games. In steps GOG and a Nightdive studios, the remastering maestros, as they bring a twin-pack of Heretic and Hexen to the GOG website.
There’s a massive list of improvements to the games, including but not limited to improved graphics, local multiplayer (including co-op) and brand new single-player fun to be had with new story content.
The remastered bundle is available now from GOG.
